Peter John DeAngelis, 74, of Slatington, passed away on April 15, 2021 in Lehigh Valley Hospital, Cedar Crest. He was the beloved husband of Barbara (Bambi) DeAngelis. Together they celebrated 32 years of marriage.

Born August 19, 1946 in Bethlehem. He was the son of the late Peter A. and Helen (Huber) DeAngelis.

Pete was a graduate of Liberty High School and later served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.

Pete was a successful bird dog trainer and co-owner of Longview Kennels in Slatington. He received numerous awards for his champion dogs. He truly loved his profession and never thought of it as "work". An avid outdoorsman, he held memberships in the American Field and American Kennel Club and the NRA. Pete enjoyed times spent with his family, hunting, fishing with friends, and driving his Corvette.

He was of the Lutheran faith.

In addition to his wife Bambi, Pete is survived by his almost children; Jennifer Fernandes and Jonathan Jones; grandchildren, Emelia and Chloe; sister, Nancy DeAngelis; niece, Leslie DeAngelis; and great niece and nephew, Alexis and Brandon Holzinger.

My sincere condolences to Pete's family. I first met Pete as a young man at Field Trials. He was a colorful guy, who was fun and a good competitor. My dad, George Ekdahl often called upon Pete to judge for our Brandywine Birddog Club trials in the 1970's and 1980's. He had a keen eye for good dogs and truly enjoyed the sport. He kept in mind that dog trails while a competitive sport could also be fun.

We followed Pete's career as a trainer and his success with his kennel business with pride. It was good to see a good guy succeed. Sadly he is gone too soon. At the age of 74, as my dad would have said "he was just a kid" . . . and sadly it is an end of an era.

Again, my sympathy to his family,

Bobbie Ekdahl
