Palo Alto and San Francisco
Carol Tooker Stewart, age 70, passed into peace in the early morning of December 13, 2020 from complications of early onset dementia. Carol was a loving and loyal wife, sister, daughter, aunt and friend. A beautiful and spirited woman with a quick wit, sharp intellect and distinctive sense of style, Carol was loved and admired by many.
Carol was born in Champagne, Illinois, daughter to Edwin and Pauline (Beal) Tooker, who both preceded her in death. Carol combined fashion and art by designing hand painted silk garments and was recognized in 1982 as one of I Magnin's five "Young Designers of the Year." I knew and worked with Carol and Bob in San Francisco during the late 1970's through the mid 1980's. Carol was a lovely, warm, talented presence. She will be missed by many.

I was so sad to learn of Carol's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Carol at Steinhart and later DLA Piper for approximately 20 years. Carol was a "go-to" for many people. She always had the answer and was one of the most reliable and well thought of people in the office. Many of us miss her to this day. On a personal note, when I was pregnant with my first child she made a lovely baby blanket for me. He is now 25 and I still have it and would never part with it.

Take care.

Dear Jeanie and Chris: I was shocked and saddened to read of the passing of your dear sister Carol. My deepest condolences to you and your families. When I worked at the USGS many years ago, I was lucky enough to be your dad and Hal Morris’ secretary. Your parents became dear friends of mine along with the Sumidas. I will always cherish those memories. Fondly, Grace Tanaka
