I was in Emily's typing class in 1974 at PLHS. I remember telling her typing will never do much for me. Was I wrong. It helped me in my first job out of school and we all know how computers changed the world. She never let me forget it.

I kept in contact with her and John for many years. My first artichoke was in her La Jolla home. We would get together one or twice a year and talk about memories and how I was catching up to her.

I asked her once what was her secret to longevity. Her answer was a glass of scotch a day.

So, to Emily, I raise a glass of scotch to her. Cheers!

My all-time favorite teacher!!! She had a huge impact on me and my career - I retired from teaching 3 years ago. I hope I touched a student over the 38 years of teaching like she touched me. I miss our chats - a wonderful person that was admired by many. RIP - thank you for all you gave to me. (Dean Bradshaw - San Diego HS)

When I recently heard that Mrs. Tannone had passed away, I was moved to tears because she was one of the teachers who most inspired me and touched my life. I am forever grateful to have been privileged to be her student. I hope her family can take comfort in knowing that she had a tremendously powerful impact on the lives of so many students and we truly appreciated the gifts of self confidence and encouragement that she gave us. Thank you to her family for having shared her with us and God Bless you Mrs Tannone for being a light in our lives. With sincere appreciation and condolences, - Elisa (Baranski) Chiu, Point Loma High School Class of 1978

As the daughter of Emily's oldest friend (Carl Lindner), I grew up hearing about her, and finally got to meet her while I was a grad student at UCSD. She enriched my life with her incisive wit, and her many and varied interests, and I quickly adopted her as a role model. I will miss my occasional chats with her, as I will miss seeing my Dad's bright smile whenever he reminisced with her. We extend our deepest sympathy to her family.
