Arthur Shanen Obituary

Arthur Eng Shanen
Aug. 20, 1918 - July 30, 2017
Resident of San Jose
On July 30, 2017, Arthur Eng Shanen, beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully with family by his side.
Art was born in Canton, China and emigrated to N.Y.C. at age 9. He attended Lafayette University. During WWII, he served at Headquarter's Squadron of the Air Force unit in the Asiatic Pacific Theatre. Art worked for the City of San Jose for 23 years. He was active in the Chinese American Citizens League and helped set up a Chinese Youth bowling league, enjoying the weekly gathering of bowlers.
Art is survived by his wife, Charlotte, daughters Stephanie Ross (Ben), Claudia Kobayashi (William) and granddaughter Keiko.
Our family would like to thank the Hospice of the Valley team, led by Liwen, for the tremendous support and care provided to both Arthur and his family. Private interment has been performed.
