Janet and I met in the mid-80's when I dated Steffen. I think it bothered her that I didn't have my driver's license because it made me somewhat dependent on others, lol. Janet took time out of her schedule to take me out on the road multiple times to practice my driving skills in her little blue manual transmission pickup. She was an independent spirit with a great sense of humor and a winning smile. When Janet was hired by a dental outfit in Riyadh, I recall seeing her off at the PDX airport. As we waved, she saluted us, accidentally bonking herself in the head with her purse. She made a goofy face and walked towards her departure gate. That's how I remember Janet... independent, intrepid and funny. I'll always remember her that way.
