His mother and my grandmother were sisters in Hiroshima, Japan. He came to America in the 1950's , worked hard, saved his money, sent for a wife from Japan, and became a real American success story. A kind and gentle soul. My father (his cousin) taught him gardening, then he lived in Los Gatos on an estate. The lady taught his wife English in exchange for house cleaning, while he took care of the garden. When he saved enough money, he bought some land on Piercy road and built a hot house and grew carnations. He became so successful, the Bank of Tokyo made him an honorary director. A true success story of an immigrant who worked hard and became more successful than many of us born here, despite the language barrier.

My deepest sympathy to Yasuyo and family for your loss.
