What distressing news! I worked with Susan for a brief time many years ago at a prominent law firm. Some years later she showed up at my church and we became reacquainted. She was smart and curious and a pleasure. I am so sorry to hear of her passing so young. Rest In Peace Susan.

I met Susan in law school. She was part of a group of very intelligent, creative older women who went through the grueling process of learning how to think like a lawyer together. We were a study group and then seven of us kept in touch to varying degrees for years afterward. Susan made a fabulous blender rum punch to celebrate after the bar exam. I remember that. Or was it graduation? She visited my cabin in the mountains, and in later years we talked on the phone about issues with our sons, then about 8 or 10 years old. She was interested in magnet schools. I was looking for a charter school. Educated parents looking to pass on the joys of education to our children! Later, I met up with Susan at a conference for the Lutheran faith and discovered we were each part of a Lutheran community. I do remember her speaking of her loving husband, and of her diagnosis. I will miss Susan's out-of-the-box, spirited thinking, her humor and her willingness to try things new. Love you, Susan.
