Norman Van Woerkom Obituary

Norman Van Woerkom
June 18, 1930 - Sept 28, 2018
Resident of Los Gatos
Norman Van Woerkom passed away on September 28 at home in Los Gatos surrounded by his family.
Norm served in the Korean War. He was a school principal for the Moreland School District for 28 years. In addition, he was a part-time cement contractor, pouring concrete throughout the valley. He led by example and made sure he always worked harder than anyone. Dad was a man of great integrity and never wavered in his moral and religious beliefs. He served an LDS Mission in New York and later served as a Bishop and then as a Temple Worker.
Norm loved people and had a heart of gold. He had a way about him that drew people to him. He always had a warm, wry smile and an extended hand.
Norm had many interests in life including traveling and playing golf with friends. He enjoyed sports and was an avid BYU Cougar fan. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Norm is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Edie; daughter, Cyndi Michael (Bill); son, Steve Van Woerkom (Jennifer); 6 grandchildren, Steven Jr., Lindsey, Ryan, Sara, Christina, and Meagan; 6 great-grandchildren; brothers, Blaine and Howard Van Woerkom (Gloria); and many other relatives and friends.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, October 13 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1655 Noreen Drive, San Jose.

To The Family,
I'm so sorry to hear of Mr. Van Woerkom's passing. I was one of the employees at Anderson School, and will always remember him as such a WONDERFUL gentleman. Also, he was a GREAT principal to all at the school making sure that the students ate a nutritious lunch and to not waste food. I considered him to be my mentor.

I know, too that he has left a wonderful legacy in all his surviving family. I hope that this gives you some comfort as time passes.

So, sorry!
