Tom played on my Jr. High School Saturday League baseball team (Leon Jacobs Men's Store on So. 1st St. was our sponsor) when we were at Woodrow Wilson Jr. High. It doesn't surprise me at all that he was such a great influence coaching girls softball.

Tommy was my best friend at Washington School. We were in 1st and 2nd grade together. Tommy and his sidekick, Tom Rizzo were constant companions. Even then Tommy was a happy, smiling, good humored, chum. Always gentle, yet intense character and always saw thew good side of a bad event. We were always seated in the front row of class pictures because we shared being the shortest folks in class. What he lacked in physical height he exhibited in the tall character traits of warmth, compassion and enthusiasm for life.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the Sorci family at the loss of Tom. I admired him greatly and and saw first hand the fruits of his time and effort toward helping young women achieve their dreams on and off the softball diamond. May he rest in piece.
