Mike, Carline, Amanda, and Joe,
We are so sorry to hear of Val's passing.
We worked with Val at Riverview Hospital for many years. She was a fantastic nurse! It was truly her calling and she practiced with great skill, empathy, and care.
The way Val worked with people was quite admirable. She held the staff in high esteem and treated them with the utmost respect. Even though Val was the nurse in charge, she also worked hand in hand with the front line staff. That took up a lot of time and she would often have to stay late to complete paperwork. Her priority, though, was that everyone stay safe and she dedicated herself to that each and every day. We trusted her, respected her, and appreciated her.
We also call Val a friend. We sat with her at countless soccer games, band concerts, and Oddfellows/Circus performances. She was a woman who was so easy to talk with, who never said a bad word about anyone, and was truly interested in others. We shared many laughs, (and a few tears) throughout the years.
Most of all, Val had great courage. For as long as we knew her, Val struggled with her health. She did not complain, she did not miss a day of work, and she was always there for her family. Her physical challenges deepened her empathy for others, making her one of the most caring, loving people that we knew.
Val was a character, a joy, a bright light.
We will miss her.
With sadness and love,
Tom & Cindy Prue
