Donald Francis Rousseau- Ret. Captain, USMC
April 16, 1934 - July 27, 2017
83, of Modesto, passed away July 27, 2017. Born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Don spent his childhood and youth in Mexico, Missouri. Don joined the Marine Corps after graduation and was sent to fight in the Korean War. He also spent two tours of duty in Vietnam. Don retired after 22 years of military service. He settled in Modesto with his first wife Kristen and their son Daniel. Don was preceded in death by his wife Kristen, and later married Marylou Hacker.
Don was a real estate broker with his own business and also worked at Modesto Junior College. He retired in 2006. Don was an avid bowler, golfer and a skilled woodworker, who enjoyed making wooden crafts for his family and friends. His love of travel took him to Europe, Canada the Caribbean and many U.S. states. He was especially fond of visiting the Monterey Peninsula.
He is survived by his wife, Marylou, his son, Daniel (Amber) his step-son Nick Konner (Linda), and his three grandchildren, Christopher, Alex and Madeleine Konner. He is also survived by his sister Margery Konrath (Harold) and numerous nieces and nephews. He was loved by family members and friends and will be greatly missed.
A Celebration of Life held will be held on September 16, 2017 at 2:00 pm at the Unitarian Universalist Church located at 2172 Kiernan Ave, Modesto. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to Hope for Paws, www.hopeforpaws.org, in his name.
