Anthony Ricciardi Obituary

Dr. Anthony "Tony" K. Ricciardi, D.D.S.
September 3, 1946 - January 7, 2019
Carmel
We are deeply saddened by the sudden passing away of Tony Ricciardi on Monday, January 7th, 2019.
Tony was born on September 3rd, 1946, in Hawthorne, Nevada to Armando U. Ricciardi and Therese K. Ricciardi. He was the oldest of 7 children, raised in Reno, Nevada. It was in Reno where Tony met his wife of 52 years, Barbara Crumley Ricciardi. After graduating from the University of Nevada, Reno, he received his degree in general dentistry from the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry in San Francisco.
Tony established his 35-year dental practice here in Carmel in 1973. He was a beloved family dentist and delighted in playing tricks on his unwitting patients. The fake spiders, 12-inch long syringe, and the infamous mongoose were all his ubiquitous pranks. It was through his practice he developed such strong ties with his patients and the people of our community.
With a larger than life passion for sports, food, family and friends, Tony loved to plan trips to see the colors change, mushroom hunting excursions, and indulge in the most epic beach parties, featuring the best local seafood and intense bocce ball tournaments.
Thank you "Toto" for giving us the best memories and always making us laugh. You will be forever missed.
Tony is survived by his wife Barbara, daughter, Paige (Richard Kitson), son, Andrew (Jennie), son-in-law, Armin Yeager, four grandchildren (Ella, Cooper, Isabella, Maya ) and six siblings, and a large extended family. Preceding him in death was his father, Armando Ugo Ricciardi, Therese Kirsch Ricciardi, and his daughter Casey Ricciardi Yeager.
A Memorial Mass will be held on Thursday, Jan 17th at 10:30am at Carmel Mission Basilica, 3080 Rio Rd., Carmel by-the Sea.

Andrew was an old grade school buddy of mine. I always remember the family being warm and inviting. I remember Tony talking us in to see a movie in Carmel ( Youmg Sherlock Holmes) so he didn't have to travel to Monterey, and glad he did because that movie and the memory has stuck with me for over 30 years. (Thanks Tony). So sorry for your families loss.

Our family were life long patients of Dr. Tony and would drive many miles for his service. Ever since my kids were about 2 years old, they loved visiting Dr. Tony. He was the only dentist my husband Rex would ever see. Altho we now live in Arizona, we sure wish there were more dentists like him. To Barbara and family, we are at a total loss to hear this news. Our family wishes you comfort for all the years and memories he gave you. RIP Dr. Tony....

I am so saddened to hear that Tony has left us all. I don't remember a single appointment with him that I wouldn't be laughing out loud. So even in sadness, I am also smiling at the memory of him. I never watch this skit without thinking of Tony. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=nF_C3bO8WZ0

To those who knew and loved Tony, his boundless sense of humor left an indelible place in your heart. He was my dentist for 30 years, and I actually looked forward to going to the dentist. I hope the angels will be prepared for his sense of humor.

Dear Barbara,

Andres and I are terribly saddened by learning of Tony's passing. He was such a great dentist, and friend and truly a one of a kind guy with an infectious sense of humor. The world has lost a gem of a man but he will always shine brightly in our hearts and memories. Dear Barb, Paige and Andrew,
I am so heartbroken that Tony passed from this world too soon. this is such a grief to endure.
I was so blessed to work with him. He was so kind, thoughtful, generous, and very funny, and so fun to work with. He had great respect by always introducing me as his first dental assistant to all his patients.. Yes, I was blessed to be the first. I have good memories of his family, and work and parties. I will miss him.
Love to you Barb. My heart hurts for you.
