Montgomery - David J. Bollie, a resident of Montgomery since 1970, died February 24, 2021. He was a Data Systems Analyst, a graduate of the University of Iowa, and he also held an advanced degree in Computer Systems. The highlight of his career was his contribution to the computer systems for the F16 Jet Fighter in the 1970s. He also worked on the Airborne Early Warning and Control Radar Surveillance and Detection Systems based in Germany. In the 1980s, he worked with the Alliance of NATO countries based in the Netherlands.
Dave was a versatile athlete, but his passion was golf. He spent mornings for many pleasurable years after retirement on the golf course. The apex of his golf days came a week before his 85th birthday when he got his second hole-in-one. During those same years, he spent afternoons at Dalraida School Library keying books into the computer system. He volunteered for the Montgomery Area Food Bank and sang with the Dalraida United Methodist Church choir for twenty years.
Of all his roles, his favorites were that of Daddy and Papaw. He and Rochelle, his loving wife of more than fifty years, reveled in their children, David Benton Bollie and Cheryl Bollie Kidd (Doug). The addition of two precious granddaughters, Delaney Bollie and Landry Kidd brought even more joy. Papaw's love for them knew no bounds and that love was greatly returned. Dave was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, role-model, and friend.
