Loretta B. Hopper, age 86, of Sullivan, Ohio formerly a long-time resident of Avon, Ohio peacefully went to heaven on January 9, 2018.
Loretta was born on June 9, 1931 in Cleveland, Ohio. Loretta married the love of her life, Thurl D. Hopper in 1951.
Loretta was dedicated to her Catholic churches and schools. She worked as a Reading, Assistant Teacher at St. Mary's of the Immaculate Conceptions of Avon, Ohio for many years. She has spent most of the recent years as a devoted member to St. Edwards of Ashland, Ohio
Loretta was a devoted and loving mother. She was very proud of her family and was excited to become an "Omah" to her 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren to spoil them with endless unconditional love and candy. Loretta loved holidays and family get-togethers; any chance to spend time with her family was important to her. She loved planning for company in her home; she would spend hours cooking and preparing for her company and baked thousands of Christmas Cookies to pass on to anyone who knew her.
Loretta enjoyed the simple moments of life by tending to her flowers, taking long walks with her husband and time in the sun and nature at her and Thurl's camper and "second home" at Clar-Mar Lakes Campground. She was known for her big heart. She was loved by all who knew her and will be missed beyond measure.
Loretta is daughter to Edmond and Babetta Soeder; is the beloved wife to Thurl D. Hopper. She was preceded in death by sisters, Alma Glovan and Rita McCune and great-granddaughters Glory Vinci and Savannah Carnie. Loretta is devoted mother of DeWayne (Kathy) Hopper, Cheryl (Phillip) Sikora, Debra (James) Wine; loving "Omah" to Rose (Charles) Vinci, Adam Hopper, Janet Hovanitz, Brandy (Clifford) Burkett, Stephanie (Bobby) Carnie, Christa Wine; great-grandma to London Carnie, Heath Carnie, Chloe Burkett, Bodhi Vinci, and Lucas Burkett.
Family and friends will gather at St. Edwards Church, 501 Cottage St., Ashland, Ohio on Saturday, January 13th at 11:00 a.m. for a Funeral Mass done by Fr. Rod Kreidler, immediately followed by a Celebration of Life Reception at St. Edwards. Arrangements by Blessing Cremation 440-352-8100
