Smith, Barbara J. Muskegon On August 1, 2020, Mrs. Barbara Joan Smith (Macario), age 88, went to be with her savior. The angels came with their great white winged horses and beautiful chariots to take her on a wonderful journey to God's beautiful kingdom. Upon her arrival she was greeted by her late husband, Don, of over 60 years, playing a welcome song for her on his guitar. They were married on September 6, 1949. Barbara was born on July 6, 1932 to Peter and Stephanie (Brulla) Macario in Calumet, Michigan. She leaves her two children, Donna B. Grams (Smith) and David D. Smith; brother, Eugene Macario; sister-in-law, Elaine Lindback; special friends, Gene Grams, Lois Nye, and Tom and Ed Sanocki. Barbara loved her kitty's, so heaven has a new caretaker for them. She liked gardening and loved having coffee with friends. She loved going up north to Calumet to visit with relatives. She enjoyed cooking and made delicious meals. Barbara loved Polka music and enjoyed listening to her husband, Donald, play his guitar. She would tune in Tom Sanocki's Polka Time every Saturday on the radio. Barbara was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church. Her family would like to extend a special thank you to cousin, Patricia Lederer; and nurse, Desiree Miller, for their homecare when Barbara needed it. A huge thank you to The Hume Home and Hospice of Michigan for their excellent care for Barbara. Heroes and God's special care givers work there, God Bless them. A private family service will be held and burial will take place in Lakeside Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider American Diabetes Association, American Cancer Society, the Chron's and Colitis Foundation, or The Hume Home. Arrangements by The Walburn Chapel of Sytsema Funeral & Cremation Services, 1547 W. Sherman Blvd, Muskegon, MI 49441.

Donna, so sorry for the loss of your Mom.
I remember meeting her a few times when we worked together at JC Penney’s.
She was such a kind and sweet woman.
So hard to lose your Mom.
