Jennie Vozos

Shrewsbury - Jennie Vozos, 98 years old of Shrewsbury passed away peacefully on November 19, 2020. Jennie was the proud mother of two children Frank and Nick. However, many people particularly nieces and nephews considered her their surrogate mother.

Jennie was born in Louise, West Virginia to Nick and Kalliope Petrides. She and her husband John raised their children in New Kensington, Pennsylvania and moved to New Jersey in 1976. Jennie was well known for her cooking and baking skills. Many doctors and friends enjoyed her baked goods on the holidays. Jennie's homemade pies and cranberry salad were a hit at her large Thanksgiving family gatherings. Jennie was a long time member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, the woman's philanthropic organization of the Greek Orthodox Church.

Jennie loved her ancestral roots in Greece, especially the island of Karpathos. She was an avid reader, crossword puzzle expert, loyal Yankee fan and remained informed on current events throughout her life. Her love knew no boundaries which is why her family visited often and enjoyed telephone and facetime calls to stay connected and get advice on many subjects especially her fabulous recipes.

Jennie is predeceased by her loving husband John Vozos and her brothers Pete and Bill Petrides. Surviving Jennie are sons, Dr. Frank Vozos and wife Nancy of Oceanport, NJ, Nicholas Vozos of Salvisa, KY, grandchildren Marissa and John Haugh, Anna and Todd Twyman and Yani Vozos, 6 greatgrandchildren, Alexandra, Audrey, Frankie, Cole, Tiden and Sonora and many nieces and nephews. There will be a memorial service in the future.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial donation can be made to Saint George Greek Orthodox Church in Ocean Township, NJ.

Thea Jennie was a second Mom to my sisters and I as she and Theo John and Frank and Nick lived right down the street from us in New Kensington. We have great memories of fun times and great holidays spent together. We will miss her so much. Frank and Nick and your families, we hope you find peace while you grieve your loss and remember how much everyone loved her. May her memory be eternal.
