Manuel Delzo, Sr
- - Manuel Delzo, Sr., was born in Callao, Peru, on May 14, 1947 to the late Augusto and Consuelo (Seden ) Delzo. He was one of three children. Manuel transitioned from labor to reward on Friday, December 8, 2017, at home surrounded by his family. Manuel, affectionately known as "Manny", migrated to the United Stated in 1970 and resided in Newark, NJ. He relocated to the New Brunswick area where he settled. Manny had four children, Catherine, Candace, Manuel, Jr. and Alberto.
On November 12, 1992 Manny married the love of his life and soulmate, Phyllis Jackson. They settled in North Brunswick where they built a life together. Manny was a dedicated husband and committed father to his two step-children, Caprecia and Dewan throughout their lives. After more than twenty years of service, Manny retired from Main Tape, Cranbury, NJ where he was a machine operator.
Manny was a dedicated member of his church, Hermandad Senor de los Milagros, Inc., Manhattan, NY for many years where he served faithfully.
Manny was predeceased by his parents, Augusto and Consuelo Delzo, a son, Dewan L. Jackson and Father-In-Law and Mother-In-Law, Julius and Fannie Adams. A loving, caring and supportive husband and father, Manny will be greatly missed by his beloved wife, Phyllis and five children, Catherine (John) Kurczeski, Caprecia (Arthur) Cook, Candace (Isaac) Momperousse, Manuel (Virginia) Jr. and Alberto (Sonya) and twenty grand-children. Also left to cherish his memories are his Brother and best friend, Luis Delzo, Sister Juana Delzo, special nephew, Ronnie Allein and three Sisters-in-Law, Maxine Andrews, Gwen (Leon) Livingston and Deborah Adams, and a host of other relatives.
A Funeral Mass will be 9 a.m. on Thursday, December 14, 2017 at St. Matthias Church, 168 John F. Kennedy Boulevard, Somerset, NJ. Viewing is Wednesday, December 13th, 2017, 4p.m. to 8p.m. Gleason Funeral Home, 1360 Hamilton Street, Somerset, NJ. We will depart from the funeral home for the Mass on Thursday at 8:45 a.m. Burial will be at Lake Nelson Memorial Park, Piscataway, NJ.
