Barbara Ann Walker
Vickery, aged 72 of Naples,
Florida, passed away at home on
Sunday, January 6, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Jim Vickery, their three daughters Melissa Ann (Tim) Rose, Margery Ann (Jeremy) Bernhardt, and Rebecca Ann (Doug) Larocque; 5 grandchildren Matthew and Andrew Rose, Daniel Bernhardt, and David and Julia Larocque; sister Carolyn Sue Hammond (Bob) Johnson; sister-in-law Virginia (Warren) Kennedy; and many cousins, nieces and nephews. Barbara Ann was born on August 4, 1946 to James
Lorenzo and Marguerite Walker, early pioneering residents of Collier County. As a lifelong resident of Collier County, she
graduated from Naples High School and then went on to attend Lee University, Florida State University, and The University of South Florida where she obtained several
different teaching degrees. She returned to Collier County to teach at Shadowlawn Elementary and later Gulfview Middle School with a passion for teaching history and
gifted students. She retired from teaching in 1989 to help her
husband run the family feed store business.
As a long time active member of First Baptist Church Naples, Barbara played the organ, sang in the choir, directed handbell choirs, taught vacation bible school, participated in mission trips, and most recently served in the Legacy Singers and Prayer Shawl ministries. She could always be counted on to share the love of Jesus through music,
education and service to others.
Services will be held Friday, January 11 at 11:00 at First Baptist Church Naples with viewing at 10:00.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to First Baptist Academy or Lorenzo Walker Technical High School. Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually. (1 Chronicles 16:11)

From Jonathan Breit and Vicki Belotti we send our prayers to the family. Mrs. Vickery is an outstanding person with a deep and committed value system and absolute support to her family. She quietly made an impact in our community and never looked for the limelight. We have been so blessed to have known her. Of a personal note Jonathan Breit is unable to attend the services due to a family commitment that he cannot change. Please know that we will be thinking of all of you.
