Francis Sammartino, 86, of Naples, went to be with The Lord on Tuesday, April 24, 2012. Frank was born on October 18, 1925 in Roslindale, MA and has been a resident of Naples since 1988. He worked as a Traffic Management Specialist at Hanscom Airforce Base in Bedford, MA until his retirement in January, 1986.
As a WW II veteran who served from December, 1943 through February, 1946, he served in Italy in Company E 351st Infantry Regiment.
Frank enjoyed going to the beach, playing tennis and bocce, bike riding, and relaxing at the pool. He took great pleasure in being an Usher at St. Peter the Apostle Church. He was also on the Winterpark Board Associations.
He is survived by his loving companion of 11 years, Lori McQuinn; daughters, Karen (Paul) Sawchenko, Sandra (John) Ciulla, and Joanne (Mark) Petrie; and grandchildren, Jeffrey (Kate), John, Carolyn, Lauren, Mark, Gina, and Michael.
He was predeceased by his beloved spouse of 49 years, Mary Sammartino.
A Memorial Service will be held on Friday, April 27, 2012 (TOMORROW) at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Church, 5130 Rattlesnake Hammock Road, Naples, FL 34113.
Funeral Arrangements are pending for Massachusetts.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation at www.damonrunyon.org.

I was blessed to have known Frank for several years, being married to Lori's grandson, Michael. I enjoyed spending time with him, he was truly one of a kind - one of the happiest people I have met. Frank - you will be missed.

Frank lit up the tennis courts in Pembroke, MA with his smile, his delightful manner and his sheer joy of living. I am blessed to have known him and I am humbled by the manner in which he lived his life. My prayers go out to his family. May they know that he touched many a life with his happiness.
