To Peter, Phil had just rehomed his parents and spoke a week before he left us about his Christchurch upbringing. He found out recently from his father of his early connections with the Motueka area but wondered where his family home was. He was searching. You have met Phil again through this page. You do know him well. He was the rare kind of person who when you met him, it felt like you had known him for ever. A kindred spirit of many.

My sincere condolences to the Evans family.I never knew Phillip, but I worked for Maurice ,his father ,when Phillip was a baby at Ngatimoti.Judging by all of the comments,it sounds like he turned out a great guy,and I would have liked to have known him.

His laugh and smile will live on in my memory, the nights spent talking, drinking and partying are fond memories of my youth. I'll think of Philby everytime I hear a Black Sabbath song

Our deepest sympathy to Caz and families.

Philby, my friend, you were a true gentleman who would always step up and help anyone anywhere at anytime.
