A great mind and great wit who faced each day with uncommon practicality and wisdom. After I joined the faculty, it took me a little time to figure it out, but in time I concluded that Sterling Apthorp held all things together thus keeping all things Worthington from flying apart-sort of a human gyroscope. He had an instinct for understanding the whims of human behavior; but most of the time, with just a gentle nudge, a bit of humor and that stepping back with a slight turn of the head, in effect saying "did you get it?" he would turn and move on to his next task. Exceptional human being who even at this distance in time, continues to leave his mark on all things good in Worthington Schools.

Beth so sorry for your loss. Sterling is a fond memory for me of my time at Worthington High School. He was a wonderful principal. A very fair and compassionate man in his dealings with students and staff. Also, so important to the swim team. He will be missed.

I am sorry to hear ofSterling's passing. May the god who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who morn," sustain and surround you until you are together again. Psalm 147:3.
