Maureen Allen Obituary

Maureen Shiplett Allen, 67, of Painesville, passed away Tuesday, September 4, 2018 at Homestead II, in Painesville.
She was born November 22, 1950, in Cleveland, to the late Charles and June Shiplett.
Maureen was a member of the Fairport Harbor Congregational Church, where she served on the church board of trustees. She was a former member of the Hambden Congregational Church, where she also served as a Deaconess and was on the Board of Elders.
Maureen worked at Area Telephone Answering Services, was a Realtor with Pena Realty, and retired from the Lake County Auditor's Office in 1995. She also was an Assistant Girl Scout Leader for the Fairport Harbor Troop. Maureen was the co-founder and editor of Fairport Focus.
Maureen was very active throughout her life in the Lake County Republican Party, where she started in the Lake County Young Republicans as an officer. In 1988, she was also the State's Woman of the Year for the Ohio League of Young Republicans. She also served as the Secretary for the Lake County Republican Party and volunteered on many political campaigns of current and former office holders.
Maureen was known to get lost in games of Words with Friends on Facebook, once even scoring 114 points for one word, ""Jiffy."" She almost always had 20 games going at a time. She was grateful to attend Saturday evening services at
Zion Lutheran Church in Painesville with her friend, Jan Swetel. She was especially grateful for the gratis cleaning services of Susan Bollinger, as it was very difficult for her to get around. Jan and Susan were faithful in bringing her to the grocery store, as well.
Survivors include her children, Grant Allen and Brittany Rodriguez; grandchildren, Jerome, Tamera, Terrell, and Carlos; great-grandchildren, Temperance, Jru, Roman, and Matteo; sister, Jill Piet; nephew, Vince Piet; niece, Erica (Jared) Rice; very dear friends, Dennis and Deborah Latona, Linda Braemer, Janice Swetel, and Susan Bollinger; as well as many other loving family members and friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, Charles and June Shiplett; sisters, Yvonne and Laura; and nephew, Braxton.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, September 15, 2018 at the Fairport Congregational Church, 308 Third St., Fairport Harbor 44077. A luncheon at the church will follow the service. Inurnment to take place, following the luncheon, at 2 p.m. in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens, 11521 Chillicothe Rd., Chesterland, OH 44026. Please meet at the grave.

I know that someday I will be grown,
but when?
I know that someday my life will be flown,
but when?
Do you know when?
I don't
Do you ever wonder?
Wonder when?

Grant and Brittany, I am very sorry for our loss. Your mom and I grew up in MOL. She had come over for lunch and couldn't remember our dog's name so she just called him Dog. Great memory. I am so saddened by this loss, but I know that Jesus has made her pain go away. Prayers to you and your families. Love Edith Truax Weigle
