Melissa and family,
I just want you to know how very sorry I am for your loss. Although I never got to meet Bruce, I know he was a special man that loved his family and life itself. The disease is such a cruel and sad process. My love and prayers are with you all.

Bruce and I went to South Houston High School together. He was something else, cute as a bug and his old blue car captured the hearts of many a girl. Bruce's Dad helped Bruce with his car restoration.

We went our separate ways as High School friends do. Then years later, in a small town called Grapeland, Tx we meet up again while standing in line to get our plate of bar-b-que the Co-op put on every year. Bruce and Melissa were ahead of us in line and Bruce, after hearing me laugh, simply said Shirley. I turned to see who called my name and in my normal Shirley fashion, in total shock I went to Bruce and hugged him. It was so much fun to see someone from my past. Melissa and my husband, AND I'm sure all the people around were wondering who the heck was Bruce and me hugging! It was so much fun.

I very much enjoyed meeting Melissa and her oldest daughter, who was still a tiny girl. Melissa was pg with her second daughter at that time. For the next year we visited back and forth. Not sure if we moved or Melissa and Bruce moved but we lost contact for many many years.

Bruce, Life and distance can get in the way of continuing face to face friendships but love remains in the heart. Maybe you and Barto will meet up and talk about old times.
