Charles Dwain Birlew
Springfield - Charles Dwain Birlew, 95, of Springfield, Mo passed away on Monday, January 29, 2018. Charles was born on February 17, 1922 in Chilton, MO. Charles served in the United States Navy for 30 years. He retired from SMSU after 23 years. Charles was married to his wife Wilhelmina for over 74 years. Charles was a faithful member of the Seminole Baptist Temple for 34 years. He loved to go hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 1 sister, his daughter, Margaret Birlew; and 1 grand-daughter, Deby Roswurm.
He is survived by his wife, Wilhelmina "Billie" Hickey Birlew; 2 daughters: Karen Jane White; Donna Roswurm (& Mike); one son, Robert Birlew; 8 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; many other relatives, including close friends, Rachel Updegraff; and Lonnie & Georgine Brooks.
There will be a visitation on Wednesday, January 31, 2018 from 6 PM to 8 PM in Greenlawn Funeral Home South. There will be a church service on Thursday, February 1, 2018 at 9:30 AM in Seminole Baptist Temple. The interment will follow at 11 AM in Missouri Veterans Cemetery. At the family's request, memorial donations can be made to Seminole Baptist Temple-Missions.
