As my 12-year-old son is starting in band this year, I have been reminded of my four years in band at Pittman and Hickory Hills schools in Springfield in the late '70s and, of course, of Mr. Ormsbee. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing. I found it very interesting to read about all the accomplishments and adventures of his life. My sympathies to his family and friends.

He said he was proud of me, just before my baritone solo at 8th grade graduation. He was the reason I could play, and the cause of my wanting to be good at it.

Thank you, Mr. Ormsbee

"Red" was the band teacher at Branson High and the best teacher ever. Really related to the kids. I was just a twirler but always rode with Red and enjoyed seeing him at the many reunions for BHS. Pam Maxwell Cantrell

He became my friend when I was PR person for the Jazz Society here in Spfld. What a great musician, and wonderful personality. He will be missed.
