Richard Herchenroeder
Richard Herchenroeder, 87, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend passed from this world on the morning of September 4, 2016. Rich was born in St. Louis, MO on June 9, 1929. He loved his family and the great outdoors, especially working in the garden and playing and fishing on the water. Rich retired in Springfield from a successful sales career, after traveling throughout the states for over 40 years.
Rich was preceded in death by his wife of 52 years Jeanne Herchenroeder, brother Cliff Herchenroeder, son Colonel Gary Herchenroeder and granddaughter Courtney Herren Gardner.
Rich is survived by his wife Gisela (Pat) Herchenroeder, children, Debbie and Greg Herren, Rick and Nancy Herchenroeder, Sandy and Bill Basta, Donna Herchenroeder, Lisa Herchenroeder and Pat's daughter Michelle Ewing and family; and grandchildren Jacob Herren, David Herren, Jeff and Kim Herchenroeder, Nick and Alissa Basta, Angie and Brian Bellanti, Kimberley and Kyle Comes, Karl Herchenroeder and Andrew Herchenroeder. Additionally, his brother Warren Herchenroeder, and sister-in-law Laverne Herchenroeder and many other beloved great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 8 at 2 p.m. at Klingner-Cope Funeral Home at Rivermonte, 4500 S. Lone Pine. In lieu of flowers, Rich would have wanted any gifts to be given to the Salvation Army.
