Mr. Hall was my basketball coach in junior high at Cherokee. He was super tough, and demanded a lot from us. We were good and he made us better. He brought a bag of oranges every day to practice, and we would get a break half way through practice to eat half an orange. My mom and dad worked late every day and he would take me home or to my mom's work. I treasure those times in the car, when I got to watch him drive with his specially outfitted vehicle, and we'd just visit. He was always kind, caring, and expected the best out of us... he got it, too! I didn't have him for English, but everyone i know gives him the credit for their love of reading and/or writing and also for their mastery of grammar. The world lost one of the food guys. I am grateful he impacted my life. Rest in Peace Mr. Hall. Love ya.

Tommy,
Mr. Hall and my Dad taught together for a number of years at Cherokee Jr. High - I went there as a student. I didn't really get to know him until I was in College English class - I was failing and needed help. I ask my Dad if he knew anybody who could help, He said yes he knew just the person. Mr. Hall and I met again for the some tutoring sessions. Paper was done - Got a B in English composition. Thank you!!! Mr. Hall You made a difference in many lives over the years.

Mr. Hall will never know how he created my love for reading! He will never know how grateful I am to him for my panache for proper grammar. I never got the chance to play basketball on his team. He'd already retired from that... but I truly learned my love to read and write from him. It worked. I am a television news journalist in CBS in Chicago.... thank you thank you thank you.
