Evangelist Elzine Halstead Maddox
On Sunday February 7, 2021, Evangelist Elzine Halstead Maddox got her wings and went home to be with her Lord. She was 91 years old. Evangelist Maddox gave her life to the Lord at 12 years old and was a life- long member of the Church In Christ Written in Heaven.
Born in Elba, AL on April 23, 1929 to the late Rachel Lee and Bishop Rosslemar Halstead she was the oldest of their 4 children and was the last living. She was married early in life to the Calvin Dixon Sr., Robert Washington Sr. and later in life to Lorenza Maddox, all preceded her in death.
She was well known throughout North Florida for her gospel singing and piano playing ability. She formed the Gospel Echos singing group and they opened for such legendary artists as Shirley Ceasar and The Caravans. Additionally, she worked as a Certified Nursing Assistant at Panama Nursing Home and several hospitals in the Panama City, Florida area.
Evangelist Maddox is survived by daughter Gloria Dixon Campbell (Bill) , sons Calvin Dixon Jr., Dale Dixon (Janice) Ray Dixon (Brenda), and Robert Washington ( Carolena). Grand children: Calvin Dixon III (Crystal), Kizzy Dixon, Anthony Joiner (Akosua), Dale Dixon Jr. (Nity) Kimberly Brown (Rashad ), Joshua Dixon, Kisha Fields, Leroy Fields Jr., Delisha Dixon Jones (Mario), Robert Washington III, Krystal Campbell, Brittany Fields, Ryan Washington, Alisa Pettermon (Gerald), 11 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephew.
Wake will be held on Friday at Mt. Zion UMC , 2751 Sunset Point Rd, Clearwater, FL from 5 pm to 7 pm. Graveside service will be held on Saturday 11:00am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery ( Live Stream@ Smith-Young Funeral home Inc)
