I worked at The Alaska Railroad in Fairbanks for 32 years,23 as maintenance foreman. We would have electrical challenges and I could always call Dave and he would respond with timely and effective advice. As with all people who got to know Dave,we became friends. We met socially a few times, but mostly it was running into him around town during one of his "quests". We would grab a cup of coffee or set up a breakfast meeting at Terry's. Dave loved to needle people to get a laugh and sometimes he would jab me a bit,but always in a way that made me laugh, too. He was a very perceptive man. He was one of those people you will always have in your basket of treasures from living life. My condolences to his family and myriad of other friends.

Dear family of Dave. I met Dave in Fairbanks in 73 and left in 74. I would always try to see Dave on visits to see John and Elsie. Dave could always make you smile when he would play devils advocate especially when Elsie was involved. Mike would always tell me about Dave Johnson and Dave Ward when we spoke. I spoke to Mike a year ago when we planned on him coming to Conn to spend some time here and attend my daughter Jessica's wedding. Tragically Mike never made it. I will miss the friends who I knew as pioneers and great Americans. Joe DiPietro

Sorry to hear of Dave's passing. My condolences to his family. We both worked for Golden Valley Electric for a loong time but in different departments.
I remember when Dave came to work for Golden Valley. He had recently moved from Minnesota and was driving a VW bug. Winter was coming on and he desperately was trying to get a gas heater installed on that thing. He'd come into the office in the morning freezing you know what off.
We both were building our houses at the time. I used to often visit his place off of Chena Hot Springs Road. His was a partially built first level at the time but was closed in. The topic of conversation was house construction of course.
Dave was a friendly person, a people person, always willing to help and he will be missed.

To the family of Dave. I am so sorry for your loss. He was such a good hearted and joke telling man. After I got to know him when Mike and I bought the house, he was like a brother who came to visit us in the summer. We waited for that time of year. My sympathy goes out to all of you because you lost such a wonderful husband and father.
