Lois Moore Johnson Clements, 86, of Raleigh died August 11, 2018. She was the daughter of Lillian Walters and Eber Elmer Moore. After graduating from Charles L. Coon High School in Wilson, NC, Lois attended Atlantic Christian College (now Barton College) where she received a degree in elementary education and graduated with honors. As a college student, she was involved with campus organizations, often assuming leadership roles. She was inducted into the Golden Knot Honor Society and named Who's Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. She married her college sweetheart, Edwin Morris Johnson. Lois and Eddie celebrated their twenty-fifth wedding anniversary shortly before his untimely death. Lois taught at Davis Avenue Elementary School (now Wells) in Wilson and 5th Grade at J.Y. Joyner and Ravenscroft in Raleigh. She enjoyed teaching bridge, sewing and flower arranging in Kiawah Island, S.C. where she and her husband Bob Clements lived for many years after Bob retired from R. J. Reynolds Tobacco Company in Winston-Salem. Lois was a devoted wife, an amazing mother and inspirational grandmother. She enjoyed teaching, reading, cooking, sewing and playing bridge. Lois was a true Southern lady full of grace, beauty and poise. She is survived by her loving husband of 35 years, Robert Earl Clements, daughter Kimberly Johnson Conroy, husband Tom, Lee Clements Tobar, husband Peter, Susan Clements Spratlin, husband Boys, grandchildren Katherine Shanahan, husband, Marc, Patrick Shanahan, Caroline, Laura and Phillip Tobar, Robert Spratlin, sister Miriam Dunn, and brother Perry Moore. In addition to Eddie Johnson and her parents, Lois is preceded in death by her brothers, Elmer and Kenneth Moore and sisters Rebekah Overman, Jean Hudson, and Nell Fells. There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Lois's life. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hayes Barton Baptist Church Minister's Fund or Hospice of Wake County.
