There is not a word or a phrase to describe how overwhelming a loss of such a prominent figure is. There is so much more to be said, so much more to be done, so many more moments to be experienced. We find it unfair that someone can be taken away from us when we were looking forward to so much more in life. We get angry, upset; and that's okay. We want all the good in life to last forever; the love we have for one another, how much we care for one another. We never think about someone leaving us forever; we're too busy enjoying what moments we have now. That's how life should be lived. But we will always have that slight "what if" that makes us worry. That's okay, too. We're human. As human as can be. We are all a light in a sense. Light provides sight, warmth, and happiness. The dark cold, fearing, and we do not have sight of anything. If we provide light to everyone around us, then we are living well. Our light will forever be lit when we reach the gates of Heaven, where darkness ceases to exist. If we spend our life providing darkness, not living well, then our light will never light again and we will be consumed by darkness.

For someone as great as this, his light was lit for a long, wonderful, 94 years that only got brighter as time went on. This is not a day of sadness, but rather of celebration of such a long life that we all wish to live. His light has been fueled by the power of the Lord. When Bishop Elige Sam Green has reached the gates of Heaven, he was greeted by the Lord. He has achieved victory in reaching the place we all destine to get to. One last victory that will be remembered and felt forever.

In Jesus name I pray,

Amen.

"Then spake Jesus again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life."

Bishop Green, you will never be forgotten. A man filled with wisdom & understanding and most of all, a true gorgeous man of God. I will always remember the times I spent with you and Joy celebrating her and DeeDee's birthday at Cracker Barrel. I will never forget all the stories my father have told me about the great times you have shared. Again, you will never be forgotten, you are engraved in my heart!

Love you always,

Avis Samuel
