PARKER, GORDON C. Gordon Charles Parker, 85, of West Islip, NY, passed away at home peacefully on January 20, 2013. He is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Healey Parker, his two sons Jeffrey and Douglas, his daughters-in-law Pamela and Dyanna, and his grandchildren Sean, Kiley, Shannon, Kaitlyn, and Grant. He was predeceased by his brother James Parker and his sister Doris Barth. Gordon was born in Derby, CT on April 23, 1927. He graduated in 1944 from Ansonia High School where he was an outstanding student-athlete, excelling at football, basketball and baseball. He has since been inducted into the Ansonia Football Hall of Fame. Gordon went on to earn a Bachelor's of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from Yale University in 1948, where he was elected to Tau Beta Pi, the national honor society for engineers. He also earned a Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Rhode Island. Gordon, a U.S. Navy Veteran, spent the majority of his career working at Northrop-Grumman, where he was involved with the Apollo Lunar Module and Space Station programs. Gordon, a life-long sports enthusiast, was actively involved in coaching his sons' youth athletic teams and enjoyed playing tennis and golf. Reposing at The Fredrick J. Chapey & Sons Funeral Home, 1225 Montauk Hwy., West Islip, LI, on Thursday, January 24, from 3:00 until 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be held in the Church of the Assumption at 61 North Cliff Street, Ansonia, CT on Saturday, January 26, 2013 at 10:00 AM. The burial will take place at Mount St. Peter's Cemetery, 219 New Haven Avenue, Derby, CT following the funeral service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to the Gordon C. Parker Scholarship Fund, which is being established to help fund the college education of student-athletes from Ansonia High School.

My sincere condolonces to all of you.
I have many fond memeories with Gordon at Trinity Foootball games and the Yule log on Christmas eve at 4 Colony. He welcomed me into the extended McNamara family and I always loved talking sports with him. A great man who will be missed.
