Mintie, Sylvia
Sylvia Mintie, of West Haven, CT, died peacefully surrounded by family on November 26, 2017. Born March 22, 1945 in San Salvatore, Italy to Eugenio and Michelina Izzo. She was predeceased by her father, mother, and her sister, Filomena Clarizio. She is survived by her husband, David Mintie, a son Arthur Mintie and his wife Maria, a granddaughter Alexandria Mintie Strawderman and her husband Aaron. She is also survived by her sister Rosa Giannotta, and her nephews, Frank, Eugene and Angelo Giannotta, and nieces, Antonietta and Lina Clarizio. When she married David, she soon left her job as a technician at the Department of Social Services, and began a career as a volunteer with Jehovah's Witnesses. She was a member of the Orange Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses and served as a pioneer, as full time volunteers are known, for many years. She lovingly assisted many to learn bible truths by conducting free home bible studies. She had a great love for people and a kind, compassionate heart for helping others in any way that she could.
A Memorial service will be held Saturday December 2 at 1:00 p.m. at the Orange Kingdom Hall, 210 Old Grassy Hill Road in Orange, CT. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to the Christian Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses (https://apps.jw.org/E_DONATE), Branford Hospice, or your favorite charitable organization would be welcomed.
