Lape, Evelyn M.
Evelyn M. Lape, 89, passed away Monday, November 27, 2017 at MidState Medical Center. She was the wife of the late Ernest Lape.
Mrs. Lape was born March 14, 1928 in New Haven, the daughter of the late Ernesto and Theresa (Amodio) Spirito. She was a longtime Cheshire resident moving to town in the early 1960s and was a communicant of St. Bridget Church. She was an accomplished seamstress retiring at the age of 81. She frequently volunteered at the Branford Soup Kitchen. Mrs. Lape enjoyed bowling, arts and crafts, as well as her trips to the casino. She often attended bingo at St. Bridget in addition to various other bingo spots.
She is survived by her daughters Natalie Caprio and her husband Bob of Fort Myers, FL, and Theresa Amato of Bristol; her son Anthony Amato and his wife Mary of Cheshire; her brother Robert Spirito of Wallingford; her 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Lape was predeceased by her daughter Caryl Forselius; her granddaughter Mary Elizabeth Amato; her brothers Ernest, Peter and Harry Spirito; her sister Hellen Erba, and Ida Porto.
Arrangements – Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2, 2017, 9:45 a.m. from the Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 South Main St. to St. Bridget Church for a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Cheshire Hillside Cemetery.
