Suddenly at home in Fort Erie on February 12, 2021 in this 69th year. Survived by his sister Cathy (Jim Sirdevan) of Orillia, brother George (Margaret) of Goderich, three nieces, three nephews, one grand-nephew and seven grand-nieces. Predeceased by this parents Jack and Jean Gould. Remembered by his close friend Suzanne Pychel and former colleagues and friends who kept in touch on Facebook. John grew up in Kintail and later Goderich. After high school, he attended Centennial College. Upon graduation he was employed by Dominion Helicopter as a helicopter mechanic. This job required extensive travel to Canada's north, with assignments in Pickle Lake, Northern Manitoba and Happy Valley, Labrador. The company changed hands several times and John followed it to Fort Erie where he eventually retired in 2013 from Eurocopter. John was a creature of habit, with yearly visits to the Indy in Toronto, vacations in Aruba or Costa Rica, and attendance at helicopter group reunions and family celebrations. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when COVID restrictions allow for greater participation.

I first met John when i got hired at Eurocopter. He liked to wave me into the shop to chit chat about various things. He mostly loved to talk about how excited he was that Fort Erie was building a motor speedway and about different TV shows. We became fast friends which i felt honoured because i know he was very selective with that.
Our friendship carried on even after he retired and we chatted regularily. Mostly about tv shows but He was so dedicated to the work he did for most of his life and at Eurocopter, that he would always ask me for updates on how things were and about some of the folks he knew while he worked there. I will miss our chats and him very much.

I worked with John in the early 70s, shortly after he was hired by Dominion Helicopters. John had a quiet and mysterious mystique about him that many could not understand, but when you got to know him, he was a great guy to have on our crew in Sept-Iles. Later in our careers , we worked at Airbus in Fort Erie until he retired. RIP Amy friend.

I met John at Eurocopter in 2002, and worked beside him until his retirement. He was my mentor and a friend. It was a challenge getting John out to socialize after work, but this one time when we were successful, it was satisfying to see the smile on his face as he had a great time. This is the side of John not many people got to see, and if you were one of the lucky ones who got to see John in a great mood, you can understand why the loss is particularly hard to grasp. He was a wonderful person inside. Rest in Peace my friend.
