I hope it's not too late to post here; I only recently learned about Dr. Goldberg's death. I was one of his first patients when he began his practice with Dr. Touma. During my first appointment with him, he made a comment about Carmen Miranda and then said that I didn't know who she was, me being only about 15 at the time. I said I certainly did, that she danced with fruit on her head. He was impressed and then asked if I knew who Bing Crosby's first wife was. I said yes, Dixie Lee. I have no idea why we had that conversation, but I loved that we did. <br />After I moved to Ypsilanti, I continued to drive to Royal Oak to see Dr. Goldberg. He was one of the nicest people I ever met, and after watching the video of his memorial service, I'm sorry that I didn't bring any of my babies to visit him. :)

Only today did I hear the sad news of Dr. Goldberg's passing during my appointment at the office. Talking with a patient of his of 20 years who grew up knowing him to be as a father to her said she is just heartbroken over his loss. I was referred to Dr. Goldberg only a few years ago and grateful that I was. I wish to say how much I appreciated his skill and professionalism, yet I will always remember him as a kind, genuine person. A talented person whose lens on the world was impressive as well. May the Goldberg family take comfort in knowing how many people were blessed in knowing Dr. Goldberg.

Dr Goldberg was like a second dad
I began seeing him at the age of two with eyeritis due to JRA
He always told me when I was younger if I ever wanted to run away call him and he would take me to his home that way I was safe and my parents would know I was fine
When I would neglect taking my medicine he would talk to me as if I was one of his children
He was so over joyed when I told him I was marrying into a Jewish family
Rest in peace
I love u and will always have u in my heart

To the Goldberg Family, Please let me offer my sincerest condolences on the passing of Darryl. I had known Darryl professionally for over thirty years as a Family Doctor in Royal Oak and referred patients to him often. They always had wonderful things to say about him. Though I did not know him well personally, he attended the Shiva of my late mother when she passed in 2007 offering his prayers , helping us complete our minyan. I had the highest respect for him not only as a physician but a wonderful human being. I will miss him.
