There must be a special place in Heaven for this wonderful man. Having just retired from a 40 year career in education, 11 of which were spent at Western Hills High School, I can truly say that Dennis Matthews was the most memorable and effective of any school administrator with whom I have ever worked. He understood that we did not teach "school". We taught students. And certainly his relationship and true caring for his "kids" and the educators in his charge were the keys to his success...not stuffy intellectualism. I will always remember this good man.
