PIERCE
WILLIAM S. (BILL) PIERCE JR Beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend to many, passed peacefully at home and into the arms of the angels on March 1, 2017. Born on July 13, 1939 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he graduated in the class of 1957 from Colerain High School and from the University of Cincinnati in 1965. Bill is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Patti Pierce, and all their children: Scott Pierce (Christina); Michelle Schmidt (Rodney); Sharon Floyd (Craig); Kristin Nauert (Herb); Vince Sessions (Jennifer); Scott Gottbreht (Julie); Steve Campbell (Stacey); and Scott Campbell (Sarah). In addition he is survived by his beloved sister Charlene Streithorst; 15 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins; and a multitude of friends. Always passionate about music, Bill proudly sang for over 10 years with the renowned men's choral group, The Vocal Majority. He was an active participant in many organizations, such as the Dallas Folk Music Society, The Friendship Force in Dallas, and various church choirs and acting groups. His favorite pastime was simply sharing quality time and playing cards and games with his wife, his family and friends, all of whom describe Bill as the epitome of joy and optimism, with a quick wit, a radiant smile, and a kind heart—in fact, one of the kindest people they have ever known. Before moving to Texas in 1968, Bill spent his childhood surrounded by his incredible mother, father, sister, many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends in Colerain Township, Grosebeck area of Cincinnati. Bill was active in basketball, football, theater, and choir while at Colerain High School and served as Vice President of his senior class. Bill will be deeply missed. A celebration of his life is planned for Saturday, April 8, from 1 to 3 PM, at the Arlington Cemetery Community Center on Compton Road in Mt. Healthy. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation, 383 Main Ave, 5th Floor, Norwalk, CT 06851.
