The first man to teach me how to play a bugle. His instruction was the very beginning of my time in the activity. God bless you, Sir. My condolences to the family.

I remember Mr. Root as a "Do-Dad" for our scout troop. I'll never forget him teaching us to make chili, military style...and in military quantities! :D From teaching us how to build a campfire, to how to make delicacies like "coffee can stew", he was a loving father, an amazing male role model for all of us girls, and a kind, patient man. (We did require that patience, sometimes!)

His passing is a loss that will touch many...as his life was one that enhanced many more. Rest in well-earned peace Papa Root. Know that you are loved.

Norman was a good friend and we had many great memories together. The trip that the ole group made to the WW2 museum and Florida will always be remembered. RIP my good friend, and my prayers to the family.
