The best mother-in-law in the world! Mom was a sweet lady and loving friend. She did not know a stranger. Everyone was a friend. Without reservation she cared for a myriad of relatives during her lifetime. We had so many good times and conversations.

On Monday before she left us, we were talking. She was having a really good day. I told her I was running to the store to get some more 100% cotton shirts to add to the ones I picked up the week before. They would be gentler on the sensitive areas left by residual shingles pain. She said in her typical way, "Now don't spend a lot of money on me." I told her that I should be lavishing lots of money on her, but I knew she would be "saving the shirts back" as she did with every gift Bill and I brought her for birthdays and holidays. As usual in our recent conversations, she asked me to tell everyone that she loved them. What a shock when the call came Tuesday morning that she left us!

Dear Mom and treasured friend, you will be missed. I will do well to be half the mother-in-law, grandmother, and great-grandmother you were.

Love you always.
