Condolences from Joseph A. Maddie Jr and Family.
January 16, 2020
My condolences to the entire Champagne family. What a wonderful gift that you all had your Dad for 98 years, and with a sharp mind until the end. He was an AMA icon, having coached generations of kids and adults alike. He was a friend of my parents, coached with my husband, who adored him, and teased me for years like I was still a young girl. Heaven has gained a very special Angel.

I know he will be greatly missed Tammy and Barbara. Your loving care of him for all these years are as prayers offered to Our Heavenly Father and you are blessed.
What great memories for the precious children that he loved deeply. They can carry him in their hearts for a life time.
Love you both and am honored to call you my friends!

My sincerest heartfelt sympathy to Gil, Barbara, Tammy, and Wendy on the loss of your dear Dad. He was a very comical, friendly, generous person. He would always call my Mom,(Sister Myrtle Champagne, Simoneaux). I drove my Mom to go visit her family -- siblings, cousins, neice sand nephews at least once a month. I truly enjoyed visiting with all the Champagne family. My Mom was the youngest of nine. It always was a pleasure visiting with everyone --- they were such a close knit family. My Mom always had great loving memories of her Champagne family. She passed away at the age of 90. I continued to visit Allen. He loved talking about my Mom, telling me how she and my Dad met at a dance in Ama. He remembered that Earlene Roux one of our cousins had been chosen as the chaperone for my Mom and Dad when they were dating. Allen had a wonderful memory and enjoyed talking about earlier times. Allen was an awesome Baseball player. As time went on he began Coaching baseball teams in Ama and nearby areas. I'm sure Allen has touched so many peoples lives through his dedication to Coaching for local teams --- different age groups --- sharing his talent. I called him often. He always was happy to talk with me. We shared a love of family. He enjoyed when I made galletts (fried dough) -- one time he called his daughter and grandkids over and I made 4 batches for them to enjoy. Allen reminded me a little of my Dad -- both made gardens, ate healthy, no fried foods as a rule and both had very sharp minds until their death. My Dad passed away very close to his 111th birthday. I will miss my dear cousin, Allen, I'll miss our telephone calls. May God bless him and may he rest in peace, reunited with my Mom, Aunt Anna, Uncle Walter, Audrey, Gert, Maxine, Walter, Poppy. Heaven has gained a very special, comical baseball coach and player. He wii be missed by friends and family.

I am very sorry and send my prayers for his family. He was my softball coach many, many years ago. He was a great man. God bless you all with love and peace as you mourn.
