May the God of all comfort sustain your family during the days ahead Psalms 119:76

It was with great sorrow I learned of Barbara's death. I do miss Barbara, but I'm grateful she has no aches or pains anymore. We were best friends for the several years since I moved to Alexandria in 2004. We often sang together on the way to Kent House to quilt, and even some in the quilting room when the mood struck. I enjoyed her tales of the Sweet Adeline events, and her stories of how she first started quilting in Kansas. I have added one of my favorite photos of her, taken at a Bible Study in 2011. Her family are all in my thoughts, and I am very sorry for this great loss. The obituary is beautiful, and I know she would appreciate the care in its writing. Her favorite hymn was "Victory in Jesus." and she and I sang it together that last time I visited her, and we four quilters sang it in her honor at our most recent gathering to quilt at Kent House. I did get to show Barbara a photo of the quilt we are putting together this year to raffle off to benefit Kent House in the fall, showing her that in each block will be a piece of her blue Kent House dress. That was the day before her last birthday this past November, and she was delighted, and let me know she loved it! She will be honored in the flyer about the quilt, as we want to do in the best way we know how as our dear friend and a very skilled and talented quilter.
