Bruce Calvert Paul McJilton died tragically at the hands of a hit and run driver on Thursday, February 16th, 2017, while riding his bicycle in Bridge City, Louisiana. Bruce was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts on Sept. 20th, 1951, to Dolores Nola Halcyone Cecilia (Schroeder) McJilton and George Calvert McJilton, Jr. During his childhood the family moved often, most notably in 1962 when they relocated to Tachikawa Air Base, Japan. During their six years there Bruce developed an appreciation for their culture and for martial arts. After settling in Virginia, Bruce graduated from Langley High School in 1970. He then served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War. Bruce travelled extensively and had an impressive variety of skills ranging from being an airplane mechanic, a planter of trees and a certified industrial electrician. In the last few years he continued his insatiable love of learning by attending classes at Delgado Community College in Louisiana. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Arn Manual Stephen McJilton. Bruce is survived by five of his siblings; Janelle Claire (McJilton) Clements, Kurt Ian Clay McJilton, Timothy Gerard Lee McJilton, Renee Wendy Marie Constance Dolores (McJilton) Owens, and Eric John Conrad Guy McJilton. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Jessica Leal & Jordan Clements, Nicole & Andrew McJilton, Kalen & Landon McJilton and Marisa McJilton Robinson, Dominic & Arielle Owens, Eric & Chloe McJilton White, as well as a plethora of extended family.
