Rest In Peace Mr. Johnny. You were always out there. Playing bongos, creating or involved in the community. Thank You for letting all us teenagers hang out in your home. I remember summer workshop acting classes. But the best was getting with Jolie day before Mardi Gras to put together a costume. My thoughts and prayers to Johnny, Jolie, Jamie, Jay, Jeffery and Ms. Jeanne. All our Love from Lisa and Kevin, Houston, Tx.

I was so very sorry to hear about Mr John's passing! I believe that Nancy said it all correct and was ever so right on how the Bonck house was an open door for all of their children's friends. With acceptance, positive growth, love of life and the love of people! I am so blessed to have continued my friendship with Jolie through the years. I know what a difficult time this is for all of you and know that our prayers are with you all!
I'm know that John has now joined the greatest band in heaven and having the best time along with our dad and others (they played together in the Nation Guard Band)
Love and peace to a beautiful person and family.

As a young girl, I had the privilege and blessing of meeting the Bonck family through my friend, Jolie. I will always cherish every day spent at the large, lovely home on the corner. Never had I seen such a house with a basketball court, water fountain and upstairs kitchen but by far the greatest delight was the downstairs "rec" room with pool table, stereo and lounging furniture. Mr. Bonck was animated and fun and talented and kind. In that room I saw films of his deep sea exploits and watched him play Bongo drums.. He was adventurous and ever ready to share his passions in life. He and Jeanne always welcomed me and my siblings despite their own large family. Between he and family I learned how to water ski, camp, make chocolate chip cookies and play pool. I knew who James Taylor was before the world did..thanks, Jeanette! A love for theatre was born in my heart...thanks, Johnny!
Through their family the horizons of my very small world greatly expanded. Mr. Bonck helped me perfect my vocals of Handel's Messiah when I tried out for city chorus. He played the piano patiently as I attempted high range notes. To this day I listen to Handel's Messiah every Christmas.
He never tired of having us around and he was like a father figure to us who were raised by a single mother. My 4 boys' names all begin with a "J" in honor of this family. Mr. Bonck, thank you for your positive influence and all you taught me. Thank you for allowing 4 more kids in your home every day. Thank you for taking me camping and introducing me to life experiences I would not have had without you. So many of my most cherished childhood memories and adventures are because of you and your precious family. I shall always remember you and your family. Mr. Bonck, Enter now into your heavenly reward, most good and faithful servant!! My love and prayers to Jeanne, Jolie and all. You will never know all the many ways all of you made me who I am today.Love, Nancy

To my dear old friends and neighbors, I was so very sorry to read about Mr John's passing!!! I know what a difficult time this is for you all!! Though I have not seen him, or most of you, since they took our homes for I-610, I remember him to be a very kind, loving man! I will not likely be able to make it to the service, as I cannot drive these days, but please know that my heart and my prayers are with you all!!! Much love!

Where do I begin. First my heartfelt condolences to Aunt Jeanne and my brothers and sisters from another mother...Uncle Johnny was one of a kind. He challenged us all and we are better for it. The times we spent through the years will be remembered as the best! Love to each of you. Johnny had a child like manner creating for many a good life filled with laughter, music and love. Peace to "Chief Fa-gow-e". Peace to all who knew him.

Johnny Bonck was high energy and true New Orleanian. Always had an exciting outlook. Hopefully he will be doing a little deep sea diving in Heaven. To the Bonck family you were blessed.
