Ruby Rome Barrios , 97, died Saturday February 10, 2018 at her home. A native of Vacherie, LA., Mrs. Barrios was employed by the IRS in New Orleans where she met her husband Lloyd and they moved to Lafayette in 1954 which became home. She was a Parish volunteer at St. John's Cathedral, and also active in Ridgewood Home Demonstration Club, Girl Scouts, the Rosary Group, and Cathedral Senior Group. Preceded in death by her husband Lloyd, sisters Mildred Harrison and Georgiana Gordon. Survived by daughters Anne Gauthier, Bettye Barrios, and Jane Bernard (Vince). Known as GonGon to her grandchildren Cherie Gauthier- Lirette (Kevin), Michelle Gauthier, Celeste Gauthier-Lepow (Joey), Christopher Bernard and David Bernard (Mandy). Great Grandchildren: Trenton Gauthier, J. W. Graham, Rome Graham, and Madeline Lirette. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday February 16 at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church at 11 A.M. The family will receive friends from 9 A.M. until Mass time. I remember the fun times we had in Girl Scouts in Lafayette. Anne and I were in the same troop and Mrs Barrios and my mother, Sue McClard were the leaders.

Anne, Bettye, and Jane, I was so sorry to hear of your loss. I will always remember your mom's smile and her special laugh every time she smiled. I also remember her delicious "from scratch" King cakes. My thoughts and prayer are with you.
