Marion Wilson Obituary

Marion Wetta Wilson, 85, died November 7, 2017 at Williston Care Center in Williston, Florida. Marion was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and moved to Gainesville, Florida 20 years ago. She was a Presbyterian. Marion graduated with honors from Mather School of Nursing in New Orleans in 1953 as a Registered Nurse. Her four-decade career started in OB/GYN, but geriatric nursing became her true calling. Conscientious, capable and caring, Marion was the perfect nurse. She always wore the traditional white nursing uniform including the white cap. In New Orleans she worked at Southern Baptist Hospital, Ochsner Clinic, and Chateau de Notre Dame. In Orlando she worked at ORMC, Good Samaritan, Westminster Towers, and Winter Park Towers. Her dedication to service made a difference in the world. Marion was bright and beautiful, feisty, friendly, and fun. She will be remembered for her kind heart, her ability to tell a good story, her abiding faith in God, and her seafood gumbo. Marion was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 43 years, John Cole Wilson, parents, Thomas John Wetta and Sarah Chapman Wetta, and two brothers, Dr. William Wetta, and Thomas Wetta III. She is survived by son Eric C. White and his wife Sarah, daughter Carol R.Wilson, grandson Jake Grogan, granddaughter Carlye White, three nephews, William Wetta II, Robert Wetta, and Christopher Wetta, and two nieces, Julie Wetta Bonenfant, and Nicole Wetta. Special thanks for the loving care by the devoted staff at Williston Care Center. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on November 17th at the Chapel at Trinity United Methodist Church, 4000 NW 53rd Ave, Gainesville, FL 32653.
