Some people we never forget, even when they are "gone" from our lives. David and I were a "couple" for many years, but in the end we went our separate ways. I never even knew of his passing, so perhaps this note will never be read by friends or family. But, he was unique!

To the Whalen family,
Please accept my condolences.

A great man. He was knowledgeable and passionate about whatever he was teaching and at the same time opinionated and a lot of fun to be around. I had him as a teacher at PHHS over 45 years ago and, to this day, I can't help but think of him whenever, I read his beloved New York Times.

Dear Chiara, Coleen and Kim

Susan and I send our condolences to you with both a tear and a smile. It has been many years since we first met at Morris Catholic and many miles between us. But your dad was never out of our thoughts. We were delighted to see him in Delaware and greatly saddened by the news of his stroke.
We will remember him with great love and affection.
