I first met Tim in 1964, when Montclair State played a football game against Cortland, in Cortland. I was on Montclair's defensive line and Tim was on Cortland offensive line. I can still remember what a tough, tenacious player he was. He had this never give up attitude that could just drive an opposing player crazy. I then encountered Tim again in 1967, when he arrived at Montclair State as an assistant football coach in my senior year. Over the course of the 67/68 year I was fortunate enough to get to know Tim a little better as a coach and friend. I was sad to recently learn of his passing. He was a really wonderful guy. A great competitor, a great teacher/coach and a wonderful person. My condoleonces to the entire Sullivan clan. Jack Harrington CO 1968.

I loved Prof. Sullivan. He had a huge impact on my life. As a junior Phys. Ed major I had an emotional breakdown. I was failing everything because I didn't go to class. The first teacher I went to talk to was Prof Sullivan. He was so wonderful to me. He offered to go and talk to all my other teachers with me and to help me catch up on all my classes. He was so understanding and supportive. I speak of him all the time. I didn't fail out and caught up on all my classes with his help and support. I was on the edge and he really helped save my life. I knew I was better when months later I was standing in front of the gym laughing with friends. From across the street he yelled, "hey, Marlene, stop smiling so much!" That was the day I knew I was better. I still get teary when I think of it. He was such an awesome teacher but he was a more awesome man. I am so very sorry for your loss. I hope happy memories of this wonderful man will help to heal your hearts.
