John Whetzel Obituary
John Wayne Whetzel, 56, of Edinburg, passed away on March 15, 2021. He was born in Woodstock, VA, on December 15, 1964 to the late Jimmy L. Whetzel and Jean Artz Whetzel.
John graduated from Model Secondary School for the Deaf, Washington DC in 1983. He worked for Shaffer Egg Processing, Richard Hottel Carpentering, and Commercial Press before beginning a 26-year career at Green Bay Packaging, where he worked as a material handler.
He is survived by his wife Crystal Monk Whetzel and son Matthew John Whetzel. They were married August 23, 1997. Also surviving relatives are his mother, Jean Artz Whetzel; two brothers, Robert (Joyce) of Woodstock, and Jay (Cindy) of Winchester; nieces and nephews, Ashley Rhodes (David), Tony (Mikayla), Joshua, and Nicholas; three great nieces and nephews, Zoey, Maison, and Bryson.
He is remembered for his love of his family and making everyone laugh.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 20, 2021, 11:00 AM at Valley Funeral Service in Edinburg. Pastor Dale Bowers is officiating.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be sent to Blue Ridge Hospice and Community Mission Church of the Brethren.
