Mary M. Boyle (nee Sotak) SCHERERVILLE/WHITING, IN - Mary Margaret Boyle (nee Sotak) 86 of Schererville, formerly of Whiting, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2018 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster. She is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, John D. Boyle; loving mother of Kathleen (Steven) Rausch, Dennis (late Joanne), Richard (Helene), Jack, Eileen (George) Germek, Mary Ellen, Mark (Lisa) and Br. Brian, C.PP.S.; cherished grandmother of Amanda (Justin) Lewna, Bridget (Rich) Eastland, Juliet (Orlando) Acevedo, Aaron (Amber) Boyle, Josh and Meghan Germek, Denise Rausch, Colleen, Allison, Madeleine, Moira and Liam Boyle; many great grandchildren; dearest sister-in-law of Mannus Boyle and Margaret Boyle; dear aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister, Helen Bencur, brother, Joseph Sotak, brothers-in-law, Joseph Bencur, Neil and Matthew Boyle and sisters-in-law, Therese Sotak, Virginia and Jean Boyle. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 17, 2018 at 9:30am at the BARAN FUNERAL HOME, 1235-119th St., Whiting; a Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting, with the Rev. Mark R. Peres, C.PP.S., officiating; interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond; visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00pm. The St. John Rosary Society, together with members of the parish, will offer prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 4:30pm. Mary Boyle was born on July 10, 1931 in Whiting, IN to Michael and Julia Sotak and was a lifelong resident of the Calumet Region. She was a graduate of George Rogers Clark High School, Class of 1949. Mary was a very active and devoted member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting where she participated with the St. John Rosary Society (past officer) and was a volunteer at the St. John Rectory for many years. She was also a member of the Precious Blood Companions and the First Catholic Slovak Ladies Assoc., BR. 81. A devoted wife, mother and grandmother, Mary will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her. The Knights of Columbus, Pope John XXIII Council 1696 will offer prayers at the funeral home on Wednesday at 7:00pm. In lieu of flowers, memorials to "Forever Blue & Gold" (St. John School Alumni Assoc.) or the Missionaries of the Precious Blood would be appreciated. www.baranfh.com (219) 659-4400

Dear John & family, Please accept my prayerful sympathy at the passing of your dear wife and mother, Mary. She will be remembered in prayer before the Blessed Sacrament.
